Ethan Monroe

Psychotherapist & Counsellor Couples & Intimate Partner Therapist

Hi there, I’m Ethan, and I am a Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor working from my office in Haggerston, East London.

My Approach

What I love most about counselling and therapy is the opportunity to openly express your thoughts and emotions, without any filters or reservations. We rarely allow ourselves this experience and I encourage my clients to actively lean-in to it. Whether you're grappling with feelings of emptiness, anxiety, lingering grief, a sense of being stuck, or dissatisfaction within your relationships, be they romantic, familial, or friendships, we can start by acknowledging these emotions together. I'm here to guide you as a facilitator on your therapeutic path, and in our collaboration, we'll unearth the resources and understandings that empower you to lead a life rich in fulfillment and purpose.

I will assist you in untangling the intricacies of your present situation, exploring the depths of your identity, experiences, and behavioural traits, and addressing any relationship challenges or repetitive patterns you encounter. Within a warm and inviting environment, I'll provide guidance and support as you navigate the changes or personal challenges you wish to confront. I look at our work together like a puzzle - we will explore each piece and find out how they are all connected to make a complete picture.

I frequently collaborate with individuals in the creative arts, and I specialise in various areas. These include assisting those new to counseling/therapy, addressing topics such as sexuality and gender dysphoria, providing support for coping with chronic anxiety and stress, exploring unresolved childhood issues and attachment, navigating complex trauma and processing grief.

Additionally, I offer support to heterosexual cisgender men who are interested in connecting with their deeper emotional experiences.

I have a background in the arts and bring creativity and humour (when appropriate) into the work. I invite you to reach out for a free 15-minute Zoom call to see if we are a good fit.

Couples & Intimate Partner Counselling

I assist couples and partners in understanding one another’s complexities, differences and similarities. I help to navigate sexual desires and discrepancies, consensual non-monogamy, as well as trust concerns, while also aiding those seeking improved communication, security, and connection. Relationship therapy is not only for those who are stuck or in crisis, I also frequently work with partners who are looking to improve the overall quality of their relationship.

Training & Qualifications

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (MBACP 401057) and I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I also hold a Certificate in Intimate Partner Training from CICS (Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology).

In addition to my private practice, I have worked as a therapist in London at METRO, an LGBTQ+ charity, the CPPD Low Cost Counselling Service and as an Associate Counsellor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.
