Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor (MBACP)

Hello. I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor; my work is focused on supporting you to look at what is going on for you at the moment and explore why you might be feeling and behaving in certain ways.

From my experience of working therapeutically with clients, and undertaking therapy myself, I understand that it can be both challenging and rewarding. Exploring feelings, experiences or memories we may have been avoiding or haven’t thought about for a long time can often be painful and upsetting, but it can also be a very fulfilling and liberating experience.

My Approach

The focus of my work with clients is often to support them to find ways to:

  • feel more connected to themselves, to understand themselves and the way they might behave better, including why they might respond in certain ways to particular people and situations.

  • cope better with situations and emotional demands and improve their relationships and interactions with others.

  • feel more positive about themselves and confident to make changes in their life that they might want to, and to find ways to live a richer, fuller life.

I specialise in helping adults and young people who may be experiencing depression or anxiety related issues including OCD, intrusive thoughts, emotional overwhelm. I work a lot with people experiencing low self esteem and confidence and body image related issues. I work with people who have experienced sexual trauma and violence, or who may be going through difficulties in their relationships. I also have extensive experience in the area of loss and bereavement.

With a focus on compassion, acceptance and understanding, I aim to offer a safe and caring space; somewhere to talk freely and openly. At the heart of the work is developing a strong relationship so that we can work collaboratively and at your pace, to help you reconnect with yourself, with feelings, and aspects of yourself that you perhaps might find hard to accept or understand.

As an Integrative therapist I draw on a range of therapeutic models to support my clients in the work they want to do, they include:  person centred, Gestalt, CBT, Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis, Compassion focussed Therapy and Psychodynamic Theory. Often much of the work draws on exploring how our formative experiences might be driving our current ways of being, and patterns of behaviour, looking at which of these patterns are serving us well and which are no longer working for us.
